No. We are not affiliated with any religious organization, however we respect and accept that if it’s a part of your practice. While some ideas we present are also associated with some Eastern thought and/or mysticism, there is no hidden agenda for religious “conversion”. Do I have to eat vegetarian food? Yes. For this retreat, we feel that it’s important to nourish the whole body inside and out. Therefore, while we realize that many of you may be omnivorous, we ask you to respect our request for you to eat only vegetarian while here. We promise the food to be yummy! Do I have to bring my own granola? Angels' Rest provides some of the best food you can imagine and was a memorable part of the retreat for everyone last year. But, if you wish to bring along extra food and snacks, please feel free. This can include anything, but remember that we cannot guarantee you access to any refrigeration and we ask you to be mindful of our host’s facility. Will I have my own room? Chances are that you will share a sleeping space with others. Please contact us if you have special needs or concerns that would make this situation awkward or impossible. What do I need to bring? We will try and send a complete list of things for you as it gets closer to the date. But certainly comfortable clothes including loose clothing for yoga/meditation, hiking shoes, swim suit, books, trumpet, CDs(portable walkman type players only please), and anything else you feel would help you enjoy your weekend. We want you to relax and enjoy yourself and rejuvenate your spirit. Bring what you feel will help that. Ask if you are unsure it’s acceptable. Will there be lessons? There will be time for one-on-one meetings with both Brian and Kevin if requested. Some may feel it absolutely necessary, others may feel it unnecessary. Therefore, while it won’t be mandatory, we will make sure that we will offer everyone some individual time to play, or just talk about your questions, feelings, or your practice. Will there be groups to play in? Will there be practice time? Past retreats have involved plenty of time to practice, ensemble playing and coachings, individual performances etc. If you want to play, there will be ample time to do so. Is there scholarship available? We hope so. Depending on the amount of participants, we may be able to give a scholarship or two for part of the tuition. We tried to keep the cost as low as possible to be accessible to everyone. If you are interested, but concerned about the cost, please get in touch with us to see if there is any way we can help you come. |
